Hiking gone wrong

 

Julian Sands was reported missing January 13, 2023. 

San Bernardino authorities posted a warning about Mt. Baldy  noting that conditions would endanger even experienced hikers.


“Please know the current conditions on Mt. Baldy are adverse and extremely dangerous,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “Due to the high winds, the snow has turned to ice, making hiking extremely dangerous.”

In the past four weeks, there have been 14 rescue missions on the mountain, and two people died. Ground search teams left the mountain on Saturday due to possible avalanche conditions, the L.A. Times reported. The search continued with drones and helicopters.

 Sands was one of two people missing in the San Gabriel Mountains, according to the L.A. Times. Another man, Bob Gregory, was reported missing by his family on Monday.

As of March 10th, I have to accept the fact that Julian, for whatever reasons, did not survive his hike. More storms followed his disappearance. Searchers found his car, but nothing led to his whereabouts including the last ping of his phone.
